Faberg, Oppland/Hedmark, Innlandet, Norway
Fåberg is a village and former municipality in Innlandet county, Norway.
The parish of Faaberg was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). On January 1, 1964 Fåberg was incorporated into the neighboring municipality Lillehammer. The Fåberg district contains the villages of Fåberg and Jørstadmoen. The municipality (originally the parish) was named after the old farm Fåberg (Norse Fágaberg) because the first church was built there. The meaning of the first element is unknown; the last element, berg, means mountain. |
