Håland, Erfjord, Rogaland, Norway
Håland is a former municipality in Rogaland province, Norway. It is part of the traditional Jæren district ,just west of the city of Stavanger. The municipality existed from 1838 until its demise in 1930 when it split into the two municipalities of Solaand Madla. The 85-square-kilometer (33 sq mi) municipality includes the land surrounding Hafrsfjorden including all of the current municipality of Solaand the land of the Audience in the city of Stavanger.
The historic parish of Haaland (later coastal Håland ) included churches located in Sola, Tananger, Tjora, and Madla. On 1 January 1838, the parish of Haaland was established as a municipality (see formannskapsdistriktlaw). The municipality of Håland existed until 1930, when it split to form the two new municipalities ofMadla (population: 1,091) and Sola (population: 3,372). Later, Madla was merged with the city of Stavanger and it now forms the borough of Madla. |
